About us
A Movement Rooted in Faith and Fuelled by Purpose
More than an NGO
How It All Started
It began with a lecture.
On the 29th of April, 2011, at the First Session of the Twentieth Synod of the Ibadan Anglican Diocese, Dr. D.O. Ladipo delivered a compelling talk on Global Warming — Causes and Effects: Wither the People of Nigeria. The room was stirred. The questions were urgent. The need was clear.
From that single moment of enlightenment, the Ibadan Anglican Diocese made a decision: it was time to act. His Grace, The Most Reverend Dr. J.O. Akinfenwa officially announced the establishment of an environmental and community development NGO, and the Rural and Urban Stewardship Initiative for Sustainable Development — RUSISD — was born.
Over a decade later, we have grown from that one lecture into a fully operational NGO touching thousands of lives across Oyo State and beyond.
The story behind our Logo
Our logo is not just a design — it's a declaration.
The colours tell the story: leaf green for fertility and the abundance we work towards; white for purity of purpose; amber for the peace and unity we build in communities. The initials RUSISD sit at the centre, a reminder of who we are and why we exist.
Our theme — 'Service to God and Humanity' — is not a slogan. It is our mandate, printed on every document we produce and lived out in every community we serve.
